Book Details
A lesson of responsibility is in the works in this wonderful children's tale by the famed author, Theodor Geisal, better known by his pen name, Dr. Suess. Horton Hatches the Egg was published in 1940 and was adapted for an animated short film two years later.
The story tells of a young elephant named Horton, who is asked by the lazy bird Mayzie to sit her egg while she goes on vacation. Horton continues to keep his promise, despite the scornful laughter of his friends, the perils of hunters and a journey on a ship, and finally a traveling circus. His persistence is finally rewarded when the egg hatches during a performance, revealing a tiny winged elephant.
